Winston à la bat

By PATRICK MALONEY, Mon, May 26, 2008: Labatt Park left off Tigers adIt’s not ‘market-ready,’ says London’s tourism manager
Tourism London’s $80,000 pitch to get Detroit baseball fans to visit London doesn’t mention it has the world’s oldest ballpark — Labatt Park.

London shut out again“My Ontario” barely includes London. Or much of the rest of Southwestern Ontario. The latest, taxpayer-funded My Ontario travel magazine, … contains 130 glossy pages of attractions. … There are several articles on Toronto, Ottawa and Niagara, and one on Hamilton.… London — actually just London’s International Children’s Arts Festival — gets a notice of one-eighth of a page, 15 lines, 35 words. That’s it. “It’s a constant hassle,” a weary London tourism manager John Winston said yesterday. “I’ve got a call in to ask once again who creates this publication and how do they arrive at the particular locations?”
I hope to see people at Home County Folk Festival, in it’s 35th, non-taxpayer-funded free-by-donation year, and Sunfest, in it’s 14th, non-taxpayer-funded, free-by-donation year.
